Dr. Gerd Heuschmann and Equinethos Ltd

Dr Gerd Heuschmann, world renowned expert on equine biomechanics and author of ‘Tug of War- Classical versus "Modern Dressage"’ and the film ‘If Horses could Speak’ will be visiting the UK from the 31^st August – 3^rd September 2011.  These days will present a unique opportunity to hear and observe Dr Heuschmann’s work and get a preview of his new book ‘Balancing Act - A way to become a responsible rider".

Dr Heuschmann will present lectures and discussions regarding the biomechanics of the horse. The background of the classical riding principals are based on this biomechanical knowledge. The lectures and demos will be based around the following topics:             Ticket Prices include Lunch and tea and coffee during the day.

Wednesday 31st August (4.00pm - 8.00pm) Lecture on the importance of understanding equine biomechanics, followed by a question and answer session and a preview of Gerd’s new book.

Thursday 1st September (Lessons) 10.00am - 1.00pm

Demo & lecture in the arena with horses on "Understanding the balance of the horse". 2.00pm – 5.00pm

Friday 2nd September (Lessons) 10.00am - 1.00pm

Demo & lecture in the arena with horses on "The rider forms the horse - Positive training to keep your horse sound and healthy”. 2.00pm – 5.00pm 

Saturday 3rd September (Lessons) 10.00am - 1.00pm

Demo & lecture in the arena with horses on "A look at the stages of training from the young horse to advanced horse. 2.00pm – 5.00pm

There will be plenty of time for discussion and questions, this will be the only time Gerd is visiting the UK this year so please do come along and enjoy this unique opportunity.

 Riding Places

 Riding Place cost is £100 for a 45 minute lesson.                                                            Places will be allocated on a first come basis and there will be a waiting list held.  You are welcome to apply for more than one lesson.  Please note your horse must be fully vaccinated and you must hold your own personal accident and liability insurance.

General Comments

Stabling is available at a donation of £22.00 per box per night or £11.00 per box per day for stand-in only. Shaving can be supplied at c £7.00 per bale – riders are welcome to bring their own shavings but the only type of bedding that is allowed to be used is shavings.

Horses are not allowed to be tied up to lorries in the parking area at any time.

If any of the riders need to stay overnight in their lorries the Trust is able to provide caravan-style electrical hook-ups at a donation of £11.00 each (2 days max).

The Unicorn Trust is a stunning venue with an impressive indoor school surrounded by wooden bench seating. You may like to bring a cushion to sit on and a blanket for extra comfort!

Lunch will be served in the restaurant and the trust asks that food is only consumed there. Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the days.
